The best science lessons are free . . .

We had one of the best science lessons in our front flower bed.  The boys had the opportunity to observe a praying mantis.  We spent part of the afternoon watching him.  It thrilled the boys to see him in action.

Have they ever seen a walking stick? Those are some pretty cool bugs too! I love the praying mantis. They really look like they are from another planet. I'm glad you and your boys had such fun watching the pm together. I think those simple things are the best parts of home schooling.

Simple things are the best. I don't thik we've seen a walking stick, but the boys would love to see any "cool" insect!

Way to capture the cool picture. Do you go anywhere without your camera these days, or are you just that good? :)

That is definitely cool. But it definitely gives me the heebies-jeebies too. Can I still teach science?

Thanks for the kind words. This was a fun photo!

Anne, I kind of got the heebie-jeebies too. I still teach my kids science, but I let them "pet" the bugs while I take the pictures!!!!

Hannah - the camera is one of my best pals!!! Wait till you see some of my favorites from this week!
